Career:
IT technicians are experts in the selection, development, adaptation, introduction, operation and support of IT media in businesses and civic administration. Information media is taken to include especially hardware, software and appropriate methods.
Conditions for acceptance:
Must be inquisitive, creative and communicative; enjoy independent learning and working; like investigating challenges thoroughly and developing solutions for those challenges in a team context. A good track record at school is no disadvantage, but not everything depends on it.
College and workplace:
In the IT course, training takes place on average 2 days per week in college and 3 days per week of on-the-job training.
Duration of training:
4 years. In some places, shorter training opportunities are available if you have taken a previous apprenticeship or have passed the Matura (equivalent to ‘A’ levels).
